Negotiations between the World OSE Union and the Joint Distribution Committee were discontinued because the JDC refused to include the Israel branches of the OSE within the world framework of the OSE health work which is being financed by .the JDC, it was reported at a press conference here arranged for Abel Shaban, president of the World OSE Union.
Mr. Shaban said that his organization will continue its operations in Israel with the hope that they will eventually be recognized by the JDC. He emphasized that the OSE institutions in Israel operate under a perpetual deficit which, so far, has been met by South African Jewry and from local Israeli sources. Dr. A. Wolf, director of the OSE work in Israel, said at the press conference that 6,000 children received medical treatment at 20 OSE institutions last year.
