The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee has contributed $5,000 to a fund being raised here in memory of the late Bishop of Chichester, the Right. Rev. George K. A. Bell, the Church of England prelate who was one of the first to recognize the menace of the Nazi movement in Germany and who took a prominent role in efforts in this country to assist the Jewish refugees from Germany, it was announced today.
The Bishop of Chichester was the first out spoken critic of the Nazi persecution of the Jews and was credited with being the man who did more than anyone else to inform British public opinion on Nazi racism.
