Harold Trobe, director in Austria for the Joint Distribution Committee, this week received the Medal of Honor of the City of Vienna at an official ceremony in the Vienna City Hall, it was reported here today by J.D.C. headquarters.
The award, highest decoration offered by the city, was granted to Mr. Trobe in recognition of the J.D.C. relief, resettlement and reconstruction operations in Austria since 1947. The award was presented by General Theodore Koerner, Mayor of Vienna, in the presence of Austrian and Allied leaders. The J.D.C. now supports 15,000 Jews in Vienna, as well as 6,000 Jewish survivors in the DP camps.
