Hundreds of Scrolls of the Law, delivered last month to the Paris office of the Joint Distribution Committee by the Jewish Cultural Reconstruction Agency, have been repaired and remounted by five religious scribes especially engaged for this purpose by the J.D.C., it was announced here today.
One hundred and twenty of the Scrolls, some of them more than 200 years old, have already been sent to Israel for use by new immigrant communities. Other usable Scrolls will be distributed to reestablished Jewish communities in Europe. Those mutilated beyond repair will be buried, either in Israel or in France, in accordance with Jewish ritual.
