An emergency grant of $3,000 to provide first aid to the 126 destitute survivors of the S.S. Salvator, which capsized in the Sea of Marmora last Thursday, was cabled to Istanbul by the Joint Distribution Committee on Saturday, Executive Vice-Chairman Joseph C. Hyman announced today.
Hyman said the survivors, including 20 children, were being well treated by the Turkish authorities. He pointed out the desperate need for clothing and medicines among the disaster victims, who lost all their possessions in the wreck.
