The American Joint Distribution Committee has spent more than $10,000,000 in Austria since resumption of its operations here following World War II, Harold Trobe, retiring director of the J.D.C. here, said today. The Jewish refugees in Austria, who reached the total of 200,000, now number 4,000, of whom 1,500 still require support, he said.
Mr. Trobe was the guest at a farewell party given by the Vienna Jewish Community prior to his departure for Geneva where he will become associate director of the International Social Service. United States High Commissioner Walter J. Donnelly attended the affair at which Dr. Einil Maurer, president of the community, spoke in praise of Mr. Trobe’s services and made a presentation to him.
