The Joint Distribution Committee has spent some $300,000,000 during its 33 years of activity in behalf of millions of distressed Jews throughout the world, Edward M.M. Warburg, J.D.C. chairman, announced in a statement issued here today in connection with the 33rd annual meeting of the organization which will be held at the Hotel Commodore January 4.
Reports on conditions of the Jews overseas and on the organization’s activities will be made by Judge Louis E. Levinthal, retiring adviser on Jewish affairs to the U.S. military staff in Germany; former Gov. Herbert H. Lohinen, ex-Director-General of UNRRA and a J.D.C. vice-chairman; and Dr. Joseph J. Schwartz, chairman of the J.D.C. European executive council. Following the election of the board of directors and the national council members, Moses A. Leavitt, executive vice-chairman, will report on the J.D.C.’s 1947 activities and its proposed program for 1948.
