The Joint Distribution Committee will require $25,500,000 in 1953 for its programs of aid to Jews in Israel, Europe, North Africa and Iran, Moses W. Beckelman, overseas director of the J.D.C., today told the concluding session of the five-day annual meeting of J.D.C. field directors.
The 1953 budget, which is $2,000,000 higher than last year, marks the first time since 1948 that the agency budget has been increased. The largest single item in the budget, approximately half the total, is earmarked for Malben, the J.D.C. program in Israel.
