Joint Distribution Committee operations in Germany and Austria must be expanded, a meeting of JDC field directors from 21 Europe and North African countries were told today.

Samuel Haber, director of JDC’s program in Germany and Austria, reported that many of the Jewish DP’s in Germany and Austria were “hard-core” cases barred from normal emigration channels because of the state of their health. He revealed that the JDC plans to launch new and larger programs in the DP areas next year in an attempt to find a permanent solution for homeless Jews in Germany and Austria, who number 3,000.
