J.t.a. Mourns Death of Sol Satinsky; Served on Its Board Since 1962

Tribute to Sol Satinsky, noted American Jewish leader who died in Philadelphia, was paid here today by Eleazar Lipsky, president of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, on behalf of the JTA Board of Directors and the staff. Mr. Satinsky, who was a member of the JTA Board since 1962, played an important role in the reorganization of the news agency as a communal institution. Mr. Lipsky’s statement reads:

“Sol Satinsky had a deep and abiding love for history and a firm belief in education. These were fused in his interest in the Jewish Telegraphic Agency which he saw as the recorder of history in the making and as a solid educational force. He joined the Board of JTA in 1962 to lend his strength and weight to the efforts which culminated in the reorganization of JTA as a community-owned instrument.

“Mr. Satinsky, as a member of the JTA Finance Committee, kept in close contact with its officers and staff on many aspects of the JTA work. He was particularly interested in the use of the JTA services as an educational medium and as a means of developing and maintaining the interest of American Jews in the Jewish communal life and thought. He encouraged JTA in these directions and personally aided in establishing closer relations between JTA and the educational and cultural organizations to which he devoted so much time and energy. He will be missed in our councils.”
