Louis P. Rocker, president of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, released today the following Rosh Hashanah message:
“We enter the New Year at a time which calls for constant watchfulness and for increased information on developments concerning Jews the world over Danger signals re seen for Israel in the growing flow of arms to the neighboring Arab countries. Concern is felt over the fate of the 2,000,000 Jews in the Soviet Union who may face new persecution,
“On the other hand, Jewish life in the United States is being strengthened and developed as never before. Interest in Jewish affairs is growing in all communities, large and small. The spiritual font of Judaism is being replenished through the strengthening of religious and cultural institutions.
“The Jewish Telegraphic Agency has for forty years dedicated itself to the task of stimulating interest in Jewish life; of serving as ‘the eyes and the ears’ of the Jewish people, and of maintaining a link among Jewish communities in all parts of the world, pledges to fulfill these tasks vigorously in the year 5718, It will bring to the attention of the world the creative developments in Jewry and stand guard over developments in which news all over the world are deeply interested.”
