Lillian Zahn of New York, a correspondent in Germany of the Jewish Telegraph Agency, was forced to quit Berlin today after a week of close espionage at the hands of agents of the secret and state police.
A week ago two men followed Miss Zahn into a restaurant and robbed her handbag of her correspondent’s credentials, copies of her dispatches and other memoranda.
She filed complaints with the authorities but they reported they were unable to apprehend the miscreants. Representations were made to authorities by the American consulate and the Association of Foreign Press Correspondents regarding surveillance of Miss Zahn’s movements and were met with the reply that the authorities had no knowledge of the affair.
