Scholarship plans designed to help interested students obtain graduate professional training in group work have been set in motion in the Midwest and in New Jersey, the National Jewish Welfare Boards national association of Jewish Community Centers and YM-YMHA, announced today. The scholarship arrangement is part of a national effort spearheaded by the JWB to create training opportunities for qualified men and women wanting to go into Jewish Community Center work.
In the Midwest, the Jewish communities of Cincinnati, Columbus and Louisville, in cooperation with the Midwest section of the JWB, are offering scholarships to young people interested in a Center work career. The scholarship grant amounts to a maximum of $1, 000 a year for a two-year period, with renewal for the second year dependent upon satisfactory completion of the first year’s course of study.
