The Jewish War Veterans of the United States will press a legal and legislative program to stem the tide of restrictive practices in veterans housing, Col. Julius Klein, national commander, announced here.
The already critical conditions plaguing home-seeking ex-servicemen under existing building shortages are being “multiplied alarmingly by a steady rise in the vicious practices of racial and religious exclusion from the pitifully scant housing facilities that become available,”Klein reported. He promised that court tests would be sought on a “state-by-state” basis by J.W.V. units throughout the country.
