Jack Lang, the Minister of Culture, called on the Paris Municipal Council Tuesday to name one of the city’s streets after the late Prime Minister Pierre Mendes-France, who was Jewish. Lang, himself a Jew, spoke while unveiling a plaque on the house where Mendes-France was born near the “Pletzel” as the old Jewish quarter of Paris is called.
