German Jewry is meeting the New Year with the hope that Jews in America and other nations will alleviate the distress of Jews here with economic relief, Herr Stahl declared in an appeal for relief issued.
The appeal says that members of the Jewish faith are facing extreme poverty during the coming year and in spite of the numbers who have succeeded in escaping to Palestine and other countries, the majority who remain will be driven to seeking charity for themselves and their children. Help from abroad is sorely needed, the appeal states.
