Sixty-year-old Japanese Professor Abraham Kutzuki, an expert on Semitic languages, arrived in Israel today to undergo conversion to Judaism, Prof. Kutzuki has considered himself a converted Jew for many years and during the Second World War he was detained as a Jew. He taught Hebrew to the Japanese Emperor’s brother.
On arriving at Lydda Airport early this morning Professor Kutzuki greeted friends with the Hebrew words of welcome: “Shalom Aleichem.” He said that he became a Christian at the age of 13 and he then learned both the Old and New Testaments. Through the “New Testament eye” he reached Judaism, he said.
