The Israeli radio said today that United Nations special envoy Gunnar V. Jarring will return to the Middle East within the month for talks in Cairo and Jerusalem on the possibility of resuming his peace mission. There was no confirmation from any other official or unofficial sources that a visit by Dr. Jarring was pending.
The UN mediator is presently in Europe where he flew from Africa following a meeting with African leaders on matters relating to a Middle East settlement. He will meet in Rome later this week with UN Secretary General Kurt Waldheim who is presently attending a special meeting of the Security Council in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
