Jascha Heifetz, world famous violinist, left Israel for Rome today at the conclusion of a concert tour which took him to Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Haifa as well as Rehovoth, Beersheba and Eilath.
Mr. Heifetz cancelled a second concert in Tel Aviv following an attack on him in Jerusalem by an unidentified member of an extremist group in protest against Mr. Heifetz’ playing of compositions by Richard Strauss, who headed the German Chamber of Music established under the Nazi regime. Mr. Heifetz, whose hand was injured in the attack, afterwards played at Rehovoth, where he was a house guest of Mrs. Vera Weizmann.
