Louis Broido, of New York, chairman of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, said today that JDC activities would be halted in Poland next December 31, at the request of the Polish Government.
The JDC was invited to begin a program of aid to Polish Jews about 10 years ago by the Polish Government. After the mysterious death in Prague last month of Charles H. Jordan, the JDC executive vice-chairman, the Polish Government notified the JDC that Polish Jewry did not need further aid, Mr. Broido said. The JDC is now active only in Rumania among East European countries.
