Shelling of the southern section of Jerusalem by the Arabs continued last night and this morning despite the acceptance by both the Jews and Arabs of a U.N. proposal to demilitarize the Bed Cross enclave in the southern part of the city. Hardest hit by the shelling were Talpioth, Arnona and Mekor Haim.
An American consular employee, James C, Lide, was wounded in the leg today by an Arab sniper near the Old City. A Jew was also hit by the bullets. Lide’s condition was reported by the consulate as “not serious.”
