Jerusalem Jewry is greatly excited because Sir John Chancellor, High Commissioner, has confirmed the appointment of the Christian vice-mayor, Jacub Faraj, to be acting mayor in the absence of Mayor Nashashibi, who is on his way to London with the Arab delegation, and not the Jewish vice-mayor, Chaim Solomon, who is Faraj’s senior.
