Jerusalem Mayor Ehud Olmert said the city will have to reconsider its future relations with conductor Daniel Barenboim after he conducted a surprise performance of a piece by Hitler’s favorite composer at the Israel Festival. At the end of the concert, Barenboim told the audience he would conduct a piece from Richard Wagner’s opera “Tristan and Isolde” and said those who objected should leave. Some members of the audience walked out, but the majority cheered.
