A shortage of water is greatly felt in the Holy City, as preparations are being completed for the celebration of Passover, by residents and many tourists who have flocked here from all parts of the world.

Due to the breakdown of the motor pump at the Ein Farah springs, the principal source of water for Jerusalem, the municipality has begun to supply water only twice a week.

Water drawn from local wells by the Arabs is sold in the streets at high prices. Building operations are handicapped due to the water shortage.
