Jerusalem’s gay pride parade was canceled. The Jerusalem Post reported Sunday that the parade, the centerpiece of a weeklong gay pride festival scheduled to take place in August, could not get sufficient police protection. Police informed organizers that security could not be provided due to the fighting in northern Israel. Calls to cancel the parade, planned since last year, had been made long before the fighting began.
