Jew Sentenced for “insulting Polish Language”

For the first time a Jew was sentenced to jail today on a charge of “insulting the Polish language.”

David Shalafstein was haled before a court in Siedlce where it was testified that during a quarrel with a Pole who had made offensive remarks about the Yiddish language, Shlafstein “insulted” the Polish tongue.

The defendant was sentenced to six months in prison under the provision of the Penal Code making illegal “insults to the Polish people.”
