A Jew, Leib Birnbaum, was seriously injured today as rioting was renewed in the suburbs following three days of disorders within the city.
The situation in Czestochowa remained threatening. All Jewish shops and most Jewish factories were closed. The Jewish Community has so far registered 200 Jews who suffered material damage during the disorders.
In Kamiensk, near here, many Jewish houses and shops were demolished in rioting last night.
The job of clearing streets of debris left by three days of anti-Jewish rioting began in this Western Polish city while the Jews, six of their number seriously injured, remained tense with anxiety.
Strewn glass, broken boards and planks, and even feathers from bedding thrown out of houses littered the principal streets of this city of 120,000 inhabitants. Not one Jewish shop in the streets in the center of the city escaped damage.
The property destruction was greatest in Garnszarska, Nadrzeczna, Garibaldi, Narotoi, Kosciousco and Welnese Streets. Crosses and sacred images still stared from non-Jewish shops and houses to distinguish them for the benefit of possible anti-Semitic attackers.
Windows of most Jewish houses were barricaded with planks and barbed wire. Steel-helmeted police patrolled the streets.
Meanwhile, new disorders broke out in the towns of Klobuck and Krzepice, near here, in which many Jewish shops were damaged.
