A young Jewish girl from Roumania, Rachel Mania, has been in a serious condition in a hospital here after she attempted to take her own life when she was refused entry into Palestine.

Miss Mania arrived in Palestine at the port of Haifa but was refused permission to disembark by the authorities. She then proceeded to Beirut where a similar fate awaited her. She then attempted to end her life by drowning, but was rescued by sailors and taken to a hospital here.
