A threat to the structure of the Zionist movement lies in the bitter inter-party strife in various countries, Morris Rothenberg, president of the Zionist Organization of America, says in an article which is published in this week’s issue of New Palestine.
The article is an elaboration of Mr. Rothenberg’s previous warnings on the subject. At a recent meeting of the governing council of the American organization his stand was endorsed and a cable was sent to the Actions Committee, pleading for cessation of hostilities. Tomorrow evening Mr. Rothenberg will discuss the matter at the meeting of the Zionist Region of New York and Bronx.
Under the title “Is a Zionist Disarmament Conference Necessary?” he writes in the New Palestine article.
“The hour has arrived for all constructive forces in our leadership and in our ranks to take a stand against such a state of affairs. Certainly it is unavoidable a great national movement like ours, comprising all sections of our people, should have differences of opinion. Every responsible Zionist will admit, however, that the hostilities have gone far beyond normal divergence of views. Such a condition is bringing disgrace upon the Zionist movement, and if permitted to continue, there will soon be no ground for common work.”
