A score of members of the Jewish State Theatre here have been awarded decorations for their performances at the front during the war, it was announced here today. Units of the theatre gave over 1,000 shows for troops during the four years of war.
Among those honored are Solomon Mikhoels, director of the Jewish State Theatre; Benjamin Zuskin, Peoples Artist of the Republic; Lev Pulver, a conductor; M. Fishman, a director, and many other actors and members of other branches of the theatre.
The average performance given for troops consisted of a recital of Jewish folk songs and selections from plays by well known Yiddish playwrights.
