The Jewish Agency today decided to allocate up to $2,000,000 for the establishment of economic agencies which would make the transition period from war to peace easier for the Jewish population of Palestine. The funds will be used to encourage industry and agriculture. Long-term credits will also be granted for construction work.
The Agency today submitted to the Palestine Government its request for the immigration schedule for October-November-December. Most of the visas received under this schedule will be allotted to Jewish refugees now in Turkey, Spain, North Africa and in the liberated parts of Italy. Hundreds of Jews are escaping from the German-held part of Italy into the section held by the Allies, the Agency was informed.
