An appeal to American Jews, especially to religious groups, regarding the agitation which is now going on in the United States about religious education for children in immigrant camps in Israel was issued here today by Berl Locker, chairman of the Jewish Agency executive, and Dr. Nahum Goldmann, chairman of the American section of the Agency.

The two leaders emphasized that the entire problem has been dealt with by the Israel Cabinet and that this resulted in the appointment of two Cabinet committees. One committee is now investigating the truth of allegations by religious groups in Israel and the U.S., while the other committee will make recommendations on religious education.

Only after these two committees make their reports will the government be able to act, the appeal said. The Agency leaders asked for an end to the agitation which, they said, is aggravating the situation and which can only cause harm. They urged that all interested groups await the decision of the government, in which the Religious Bloc is represented.
