President Truman’s statement yesterday that he was still trying to get 100,000 Jewish refugees into Palestine was described today by a Jewish Agency spokesman as being “of tremendous importance for the people affected as well as the Yishuv as a whole, but it does not vitally affect the solution of the Palestine problem since the Grady-Morrison “federalization plan” is only a superficial deviation of the present regime.
“We welcome President Truman’s renewed assurance concerning the 100,000 Jews,” the spokesmen told a press conference, “but we reject the second part of his statement,” in which Truman said that the “federalization plan” is still under consideration.
