Implementation Commission to hasten its departure to Palestine, ##nce its early arrival there would have a “moral effect,” Shertok told a press concurrence that the present situation in Palestine is greatly aggravated by British ##sarming of Jewish defense units in action, while not molesting the Arabs. United Nations action, he said, can deal a “mortal blow” to Arab sabotage of the partition decision of the General Assembly. The Jewish Agency leader categorically denied that there was any intention on the part of responsible Jewish groups to ship explosives from the United States to Palestine without the necessary permits. He added that it is the “elementary duty” the Jewish Agency to negotiate for defense through all channels, in order to back ##e U.N. decision.
