The capital invested in Palestine agriculture has risen from $16,000,000 at the outbreak of the war to $40,000,000 today, It was disclosed at the closing session of the annual conference of the Jewish Agricultural Workers Organization. It was also reported that 54 new agricultural settlements have been established since the war.
The conference voted to send a delegation to High Commissioner Lord Gort to protest the obstacles placed in the way of Jewish agricultural development by the White Paper, It also urged that special attention be paid to arranging for the settlement in farm colonies of demobilized soldiers and children arriving from liberated European countries.
The Jewish National Fund headquarters here today announced that world receipts for the first six months of the Jewish calendar year totalled nearly $4,000,000, representing an increase of 26 percent over the similar period last year. Jews in the United States contributed more than $2,000,000 of the total.
