The Jewish birth rate in Palestine has dropped since 1924 to such an extent that a danger exists that the population gain resulting from recent Jewish immigration will be wiped out within two generations, it was stated here today by Prof. Abraham R. Frankel of the Hebrew University, in an address at the Nathan Strauss Health Center commemorating the twelfth anniversary of the death of the American Jewish philanthropist who founded the Center.
Speaking on the demographic problems of the Jewish population in Palestine, Prof. Fraenkel said that the drop in the Jewish birth rate is “catastrophic. The natural increase among Jews has decreased from 38.2 in 1924 to 20.7 in 1941, he stated. He appealed for more children “to replace those wiped out by the Nazis.
