The first nation-wide oratorical contest of Y.M.H.A.’s, Y.W.H.A.’s and Jewish Centers will be held on May 20, in Washington, D.C., at the Jewish Community Center of that city.
The following Federations are participating in the preliminary contests now being carried on: Associated Y.M. and Y.W.H.A. of New England, Albert Hurwitz, of Boston, president; Metropolitan League of Jewish Community Associations, Sol M. Stroock, of New York City, president; New York State Federation of Y.M.H. and Kindred Associations, Henry Cohen, of Albany, president; New Jersey Federation of Y.M.H.A.’s and Y.W.H.A.’s, Felix Fuld, of Newark, president; Pennsylvania Federation of Y.M. and Y.W.H.A.’s, Louis M. Ralph, of Easton, president; and Middle Atlantic States Federation of Y.M.H.A.’s, Y.W.H.A.’s, and Kindred Associations, David Wiener, of Washington, D.C., president.
The contest is being arranged by the Inter-Federation Oratorical Contest Committee, composed of field secretaries of the Jewish Welfare Board, the national organization with which the Federations and the individual associations are affiliated, of which Judge Irving Lehman, of New York City, is president.
