Jewish children in Germany will be enabled to leave behind their environment of hatred and humiliation because Bernice Rubel, herself only eleven years old, is sponsoring a special fund-raising vaudeville and marionette show for their benefit.
Bernice lives with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Rubel, at 106 Marlboro road, Brooklyn, and she is sure that at least 500 boys and girls will respond to the appeal to support the show this Saturday afternoon, at 2:15 o’clock in the Ahavath Sholom Temple, Avenue R. and East Sixteenth street, Brooklyn. Mrs. Harriet Kross will direct the marionettes.
Bernice is playing safe, too. She knows that the purpose of transporting suffering German Jewish children to Palestine is a noble one, but she also knows fickle human nature. And so, to insure attendance, Bernice is providing cookies and other refreshments.
