Lieut, Colonel Henry N. Sachs, 38, of New York City, has been awarded the Silver Star Medal for gallantry in action under enemy fire at Hickam Field, Hawaii, the Jewish Welfare Board reported today. The citation accompanying the award says: “Over and above the call of duty, Major Sachs, proceeding through burning structures at Hickam Field, still under attack, supervised the unloading of fully-fused complete rounds of artillery ammunition as well as blasting dynamite, from an ammunition ship moored at a pier at that post.”
