The Jewish Colonization Association, a philanthropic organization founded by Baron de Hirsch in 1891, announced here today that it would extend support to four more settlements in Israel. It is presently participating in the development of ten settlements in Galilee for which it has lent half the capital.
The announcement was made by Sir. Henry d’Avigdor Goldsmid, of London, president of the Association, following a meeting of its Council here. Sir Henry noted that three-quarters of ICA’s funds are devoted to the support of settlements and various philanthropic and education institutions in Israel. among them the Hebrew University, the Weizmann Institute of Science and schools for the handicapped.
