The demand that the Jewish communal organizations, Kehillahs, throughout the Republic of Poland allocate special sums for the relief of Jewish unemployed is being made by representatives of labor organizations who are members of the Kehillah councils in various towns.
Representatives of the labor parties, which are usually in disagreement, the Bund, the Poalei Zion, as well as those workers who are organized under the Orthodox Jewish organization, Agudath Israel, are unanimous in this demand.
Representatives of the middle class in the councils are opposing this demand on the ground that the Kehillah budgets are insufficient for such unforeseen allottments.
While the situation of the non-Jewish unemployed is critical, the situation of the Jewish unemployed is worse in view of the fact that they receive no support from the state and communal allocations for the unemployed.
