Jewish communal and service agencies lack 1,500 skilled social workers, teachers and other trained personnel, Miss Miriam Ephraim, new president of the National Conference of Jewish Communal Service, told the closing session today of the organization’s 59th annual meeting here.
In detailing programs under way to attract young people to the field of Jewish social service, Miss Ephraim cited the National Jewish Welfare’s scholarship program which makes available $40,000 a year to students who agree to enter upon community center careers. The scholarships provide for graduate study in schools of social work.
