The Jewish communities of Alsace Joined today in issuing a protest against the possibility that West Germany might permit the statute of limitations on prosecution of Nazi war criminals to go into effect on May 8.
The protest was approved by the chief rabbis of Upper Rhine, Rhine and the Moselle as well as the presidents of the Jewish communities of Colmar, Metz, Mulhouse and Strasbourg. The protest urged that “all concerned” continue to prosecute such criminals “until the last of them is brought to Justice,” and thus “to protect law and justice as one of the fundamental bases of humanity.”
