Compensation for Jewish property looted during the war in Italy is demanded in a memorandum prepared here by the Union of Italian Jewish Communities for submission to the Parliamentary Committee for War Damages.
The memorandum points out that Jewish communities in Italy feel that the families whose homes and stores were pillaged are entitled to war damages in view of the fact that only Jewish property was looted. Under the present law on government compensation for damages, only damage caused by bombing and military operations is considered in compensation claims.
