The Jewish communities of the United States and Great Britain are now sister communities involved in the same political situation and, therefore, should work out a common policy for Jews, to be put forward and supported by Jews in England and the United States, it was stated today by Prof. Selig Brodetsky, President of the Board of Deputies of British Jews.
Speaking of the consequences of the United States’ entry into the war, Brodetsky pointed out that relations between English and American Jewry are now fundamentally changed. While contacts with Jews of America on problems of relief and post-war resettlement were established a long time ago, Brodetsky declared, these relations were affected by the fact that the United States was an ally but not a belligerent. Now, all that is changed, he stressed.
