Leaders of the Jewish community here are celebrating this week the opening of the new Peter M. Kahn Memorial Building, housing the Jewish Community Library, which was formally dedicated yesterday.
Part of the celebration marks the hundredth anniversary of the founding in this city of the Hebrew Benevolent Society. The library inaugural observation is also tied in here with the celebration of the American Jewish Tercentenary. A display of rare manuscripts of Jewish interest, some dating back to the 14th Century, is featured at the library this week.
