The Jewish community in West Berlin has protested against the screening of a film of the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin which were held under the auspices of Hitler. The protest was lodged by the Organization of Racial, Political and Religious Victims of Nazism. The owner of the Zoo Palace Cinema, which has been advertising the film as “The Best Sports Movie of All Times,” has agreed not to show it.
The film, which is regarded even by anti-Nazi critics as an outstanding documentary, was made by Leni Riefenstahl, a German actress who was a friend of Hitler. Heinz Galinski, chairman of the Berlin Jewish community, warned that the Federal Republic of Germany should be on guard against the screening of a Nazi film in connection with the opening of the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich next Sept.
