The American Jewish Committee’s director of education and urban planning told the Kansas City chapter of the organization at its annual meeting today that they should organize the intellectual, communal and financial resources of the Jewish community to do battle against slums and economic under-development.
The speaker. Irving M. Levine of New York, told the meeting that “while the hour is late, this society still has some options.” He urged a chest-type campaign as a visible evidence of concern that “will be the best signal we have so far flashed to depressed ghetto-dwellers that we care and that we’re ready to change things.”
