Jacob Firer, orchestral conductor at the Yddish Theatre here, has again been awarded a prize for musical composition.
The award is the fourth Firer has received and is in recongnition of his latest compositions, “Three Symphonic Sketches on the Talmud.” The composer will direct the performances of these works at the first winter concert given by the Society of Professors of Orchestral Music.
One of the previous awards made to Firer was a municipal prize for his symphonic poem “Shulamith.” Firer was born in Odessa and has been in this country only seven years.
