The American Jewish Congress announced today it had received a check for $100,000 from the Ford Foundation as first payment of a $300,000 grant to support the work of the Interracial Council for Business opportunity. The Council was established jointly last year by the American Jewish Congress and the Urban League of Greater New York.
The Council offers guidance and counseling for Negroes seeking help to open their own businesses or to strengthen existing small businesses. The organization said that more than 250 persons had been helped by the Council since it was formed. The Ford Foundation grant is for a three-year period.
